Gardien de but

I think it's refreshing that Malaysia finally have some DECENT goalkeepers to play in their national squad. I take it as a good sign that a guy as good as Farizal Marlias is consigned to the bench. This Sharbinee Alawee guy must be pretty good then, because I rate Farizal quite highly.

Hope I haven't jinxed them though. Heheh ;-)

P.S. Goalkeeper in French is Gardien de but? Sounds like Butt Guardian or something...

Kencana HL fabrication yard, Lumut

Kinabalu jacket
Kinabalu is the project's name
A jacket is the supporting legs of an oil platform

Tangga Barat Cluster (TBC) topside module
Again, TBC refers to the project name
A topside module is the part that's supported by the jacket

These are the drilling ports on TBC's topside module

The huge thing in the background is Kencana Mermaid 1 (KM-1)
The KM-1 is the first tender-assisted drilling rig built by a Malaysian company.
It's about to be completed.

That's me aboard KM-1

This is the view from KM-1's living quarters (which are pretty darned cosy).

My department-mates on KM-1's helipad

Still on the helipad

The view from the radio room

And this, I think, is one of Malaysia's largest covered fabrication facility

One thing I've learnt from the site visit is how inadequate my technical knowledge is. I think UTP's IT students should have a basic command of the tehnical terms. Intro to Oil & Gas Industry, which is a newly introduced subject in UTP, should be super useful. Quite unfortunate that my batch didn't get to learn that though.

I sat there like a dumb fool while the project manager was off describing the technical details of the topside module and jacket. The ONLY thing I understood was"Super Puma" and "S-90", tu pun sebab they're helicopters and I'm a minor aviation junkie.

It was fun, though. Memang berbaloi pergi site. Hehehe~

My department has finally decided to do something interesting in the form of a three-day team-building session. I'll be off to PERMATA tomorrow morning for a few hours of team building activities, before heading to Lumut, where we will be spending the night. On Wednesday, we will be visiting a fabrication yard (that's the place where they assemble the rigs and stuff). I will be at PERMATA again on Thursday, which means I will only be in office for two days this week! Woohoo~

Despite promising myself I don't want to see UTP for at least eight months, it looks as though I will be breaking that promise tomorrow, seeing as we need to pass UTP in order to get to Lumut.

But who cares? So long as I don't have to sit in the office all day! :)

Oh, did I mention that they gave me a girl's safety jacket for the fabrication yard visit? It has a chick's name emblazoned across the top right corner :-S

Melbourne 2

After nearly a week of freezing my butt off in Melbourne, I'm back in the more homely surroundings of Keramat. The temperature while I was there was around 13-17 degrees. Normal for them Aussies, but not normal for a guy like me who's used to the blistering heat of the tropics. Heheh.

Somewhere above Jakarta

Sunset over Alice Springs, Australia

The street in Mount Eliza where my uncle lives

My uncle's backyard. There are loads of kookaburras here at night.
They sound kinda freaky.

Mornington High gym. Was here to watch my cousin play a tournament.

The pier at Geelong.
The architecture of the buildings in Geelong reminds me a lot of England (even though I haven't been there).

One of the many shots I took during our seaplane ride.
The seaplane is a very, very light aircraft, so you can feel it shaking around violently when the wind blows.

That's me on the right co-piloting the seaplane. Heheh...

To the right of this picture is the entrance to the Port Phillip Bay, which is called The Rip

Us with the pilot

Melbourne's Central Business District
You can find lots of Malaysians here.
The tallest apartment buildings in the world is somewhere behind me as I take this picture.

The suburb of Glen Waverley. Loads of Asians here.
The restaurants here have roti canai and nasi lemak on their menus.

And last but not least, Modern Warfare. Ngee~
I borrowed my cousin's PS3 and finished the game in two four-hour sessions. Hehe.
Pictured above is one of my favourite characters, Soap McTavish.

And when I wasn't doing all the things above, I:-
a) Spent countless hours in my uncle's pool, which was heated up, so I felt kinda warm in it
b) Hung out at the various coffee joints around Mount Eliza and Frankston
c) Took long walks around the neighbourhood with my cousin and his dog Sandy, which spent 97% of its time sleeping.
d) Watched cricket. Haha. Been a long time since I've been able to watch cricket for free on normal TV.

But it's all over now. Cepat-cepat la habis intern. Can't wait to move out of this house :-S

Melbourne, here I come. Again.
Last time I went there I was two, so this is kinda like my first trip there.
Haha...
Hope I have a good one. See you guys soon.

Had my first taste of the Modern Warfare on PS3 at Sungai Wang just now. The graphics are pretty awesome, though moving the analog stick around to aim is pretty cumbersome. Me hates using the analog stick for shooting games. Played for a less a minute, had no idea who I was shooting at (could've been blasting my own buddies for all I cared), but it was FUN.

All this reminds me of how badly I need a new PC which can support the games I want to play. The list of games I'm itching to get my hands on is growing longer and longer...
